1400 local time
The Winlink Hospital Net will run before and throughout the DSTAR and HF Nets (2:00 – 4:00pm).
Please send an IC-213 via Winmor or Packet to Bret Smith, W4HBS. NOTE: Include in the ICS-213, the Hospital/Facility, Operator Name(s), Call(s), and if you are “on-site” using the hospitals equipment or are “remote.”
1430 local time
A DSTAR net starts the “afternoon of nets” off at 1430 EST on reflector 030B. This net will usually be hosted by Savannah/Chatham County’s EC, Steve Jonas, K4SDJ. Steve will ask for the Regional Coordinating Hospitals (RCH) to check in and give him the names/callsigns of operators at the RCH.
East Central District’s RCH is Augusta University Medical System. They have most of their amateur radio equipment, but are not on the air because of not having a radio room. Therefore, each first Sunday of the month, one of the other hospitals in East Central ARES® District will fill in as the acting-RCH and collect names/calls of operators at each participating hospital.
1515 local time
– The HF net starts at approximately 1515.
– The net begins with the Primary 40 Meter Frequency (7.282.5 LSB).
– If conditions are poor, the net will shift to the 80 Meter Primary Frequency (3.982.5 LSB) at 1525 .
– If conditions are still not usable, the net will shift back to the 40 Meter Frequency (7.282.5 LSB) at 1535.
Please note there is a 10 minute time to establish contact on each frequency before we shift to the next. If you haven’t heard the net, try the next frequency listed at the 10 minute interval. We will use WebEOC to coordinate frequencies as they shift. We welcome all relays as well. Log into WebEOC and then into the “Special Event” for the ARES Hospital Net.
ATTENTION Regional Hospitals and other healthcare facilities:
If your facility does not have DSTAR or HF capabilities, but you can contact your RCH via VHF/UHF, you can be relayed as a check-in by your RCH during the Hospital Net. We are encouraging all RCH operators to attempt communications with their RH’s (Regional Hospitals) prior to the scheduled Hospital Net and relay these check-ins in the IC-213.
All hospitals checking in will give the hospital call (if they have one), and the name and call of the control operator.ALL OTHER OPERATORS AND THEIR CALLS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE ICS-213 THAT IS TO BE SENT TO Bret Smith at W4HBS via WinLink.
5pm EST in the Fall/Winter months and at 6pm in the Spring/Summer months.
